Forget the rabbit. Prepare for a helicopter to drop thousands of eggs over Sprayberry High School April 3 in what could be the largest family event in Northeast Cobb for years. Hosted by Piedmont Church, the Cobb County School District and the Northeast Cobb Business Association, the event is being touted as the "Northeast Cobb Egg Drop and Easter Egg Hunt." Still, the day, which begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.. is far from limited to an egg drop and egg hunt. Parking and admission are free, though some rides and food can be purchased. ![]() Thousands of eggs will fall from the sky during the Northeast Cobb Egg Drop and Easter Egg hunt April 3, 2010, at Sprayberry High School. "There's going to be food, games, prizes and other activities to go along with the egg hunts, which will involve three separate hunts at the same time," said Piedmont Church Community Pastor and event organizer Steve Crowley. "A helicopter will drop thousands of eggs onto the Sprayberry football field, which should be exciting for the kids." "We just wanted to bring something new to get everyone together in our area," said Crowley. "We are expecting more than 5,000 people, so it should be a lot of fun." The egg drop is free, and presenting sponsor Jim Tidwell Ford is providing children a free opportunity to have their photo made with the Easter Bunny. Also, the day will be filled with activities for everyone in the family. Children's activities include two "kids zones;" one toddler area and one more suited for older children. Activities will include a trackless train, obstacle courses, giant slides, bounce-slide combinations and more. A pay one price of $5.00 per child allows for unlimited time on. Local businesses will also take part as they promote their products and services in an attempt to encourage Northeast Cobb residents to "shop local." For anyone who gets hungry during the four hour event, the Sprayberry Football Booster Club will be selling food and drinks throughout the day, while various organizations from local schools will provide face painting and interactive activities for those in attendance. Anyone interested in sponsorship opportunities or any other involvement at the event should call 770 423-1330. For more information, go to to www.communityeggdrop.com.
