NE Cobb on rise due to groups and "others"
The Northeast Cobb Business Association; the Northeast Cobb Homeowners Group; Canton Road Neighbors; Piedmont Church; the Bells Ferry Civic Association and others I know will come to mind. Either by their names, actions or both, the groups named have been working to revitalize our community that by the mid-1990s seemed to have no life left to live. For years, people referenced East Cobb or West Cobb. Rarely did the ugly step-child located between the two ever get mentioned. Northeast Cobb was the first of the three to be developed and the first to show signs it needed another life. It has gained just that through the hard work of individuals in the groups mentioned and the "others." For years now, East Cobb has been written in upper case letters because it is a known location. Due to the hard work of many in this community, Northeast Cobb has earned the same honor, at least in this writers mind. Congratulations Lassiter Congratulations to all at Lassiter High School for being designated recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as 2010 Georgia School of Excellence. This recognition was based on Lassiter's 2010 Georgia High School Graduation Test scores, which were in the top-10% of schools in Georgia as measured by assessments in reading and mathematics. NCBA golf tournament a great event for less The Northeast Cobb Business Association has announced plans for its annual golf tournament, and the cost is lower than most tournaments you will find. Considering all the association does to promote local business and community members, it's definitely a worthy cause. And from experience, it's a lot of fun showing off golf skills in front of other community members, local business owners and local school representitives. O.K I have nothing to show off with my golf game, but others might. The 5th Annual NCBA Golf Tournament tales place Thursday, March 24, at Cobblestone Golf Club. All golfers will receive a goodie bag with fantastic items from our sponsors and a $20 PGA Tour Superstore Gift Card, breakfast by Chick-Fil-A, Lunch, and a BBQ. With the round of golf, three meals and the goody bag, it's a great deal at $85. Sponsorships are also available. For more information, go to www.northeastcobbba.com.
