| Opinion: Continue helping the Moons but also remember the LeCroys |

It has been exciting to see the Northeast Cobb community support the Stephen and Victoria Moon family has received during troubled times (see main story in Northeast Cobb Monitor home page). Moon has said he is "glad to see something good come out of all this," meaning people in the Northeast Cobb community joining together. It's an awakening, in more ways than one. While the community continues in its quest to raise funds for and support the Moons, it should not be forgotten the family of Georgia State Trooper Chad Lecroy is still trying to come to grips with his murder Dec. 27 in the streets of Atlanta, one night before his wife's birthday. Lecroy was killed when he was struck by a shot allegedly fired from the gun of Gregory Favors. Investigators said the shooting occurred on Hightower Road in Atlanta after a chase ensued when Chad LeCory tried to stop Favors for a broken tail light on the suspect's vehicle. Favors has been charged with the murder, along with aggravated assault. LeCroy and his wife, Keisha, lived in East Cobb, with their two sons, Bret and Chase. LeCroy's father and step-mother, Bill and Tonya LeCroy, liive in Northeast Cobb with sons Jack, who attends Kell High School and Jake, who goes to McCleskey Middle School. As we continue to pray for and help the Moons, let's include the LeCroys, whose chances for hope were left in an Atlanta street near midnight the night of Dec. 27. The family still has a long trial process ahead of them, which will serve as daily reminders about what took place Dec. 27. And we should appreciate the fact while we sleep safely behind locked doors, there are officers "out there" from different law enforcement agencies in the middle of the night doing their best to assure we can get a good night's rest without worry. Don't ever forget Chad LeCroy, his family and everyone who provides us a good night's sleep. |
